The Board of Spokespersons Congress approved today after midnight to include in the Plenary’s agenda the majority opinion of the Economic Commission on theto reform of the pension system whose main architect is the congresswoman rosangella barbaran of Popular Force.
The initiative, which is based on more than 20 bills, establishes, among other measures, the modification of the National Pension System by replacing the pay-as-you-go system with a system for assigning individual cumulative capitalization accounts (CICA) for its affiliates, which will have the same characteristics as those offered by the pension fund administrators (AFP).
Various specialists have agreed that this proposal openly strengthens the AFPs and would contribute to the disappearance of the ONP. Pensioners’ organizations and unions also expressed their rejection of the ruling and even described it as disastrous.
They will consult exoneration
The Board of Spokespersons also approved to consult in plenary the exoneration of the opinion of the proposal on the pension reform of the Labor Commission that is promoted by congresswoman Sigrid Bazán.
Regarding this decision, Bazán affirmed that the AFPs and Fuerza Popular are blocking the pension reform proposed by the working group that she chairs. “They intend to approve a reform that strengthens AFP and destroys the public system,” she wrote on Twitter.
