Members of the Ecuadorian Social Security Institute (IESS) can access a monthly old-age pension after they have completed several years of service and are old enough to do so. However, after the death of the beneficiary, the money can be received by third parties. Who can inherit the IESS pension?
There are some relatives of the deceased who can inherit the IESS pension. These are mostly widows and widowers, but they can be the member’s roommate, children up to 18 years of age, children with disabilities for work (must be single, widowed or divorced). In addition, there is an exceptional case, if the deceased had no children or a partner, the creditors can be their parents.
The widow or widower of the associate will receive 60% of the income corresponding to the deceased. However, before proceeding with the process, it is necessary no debt to IESS. Well, if there are, the money won’t be delivered until they cancel.
