Organizations of pensioners and unions expressed their rejection of the opinion of the Economy Commission —chaired by Rosangella Barbarán (Popular Force)— and they classify it as “disastrous” because it closes the National Pension System and “openly favors the AFPs”.
Those who question this pension reform are the General Confederation of Workers of Peru (GTP), the Unitary Confederation of Workers of Peru (CUT Peru), the National Central of Retirees and Pensioners of Peru (Cenajupe), the Association of Mining Pensioners and the Association National of Unemployed and Retired of Education of Peru (Ancije).
Among its main claims is that it is intended to end the ONP solidarity scheme and turn it into a public AFP with individual savings accounts; in addition to obliging the independent to contribute without the co-financing of the State and that the IGV be available for the pensions detrimental to the tax system.
The citizens demand that the congressmen adopt a critical position and that they propose fair reforms for all and not one “tailored to the AFPs that have enriched themselves at the expense of the pension system.”
In this sense, they ask to stop the progress of the opinion —approved a few days ago by a majority— and to the general public to mobilize to stop “the serious attack against the human right to enjoy decent and fair pensions”.
