PetroTal is unaware of agreements generated at the technical table led by the regional governor of Loreto

The company PetroTal has communicated that it rejects the minutes signed, on Friday, June 9, at the meeting called by the regional governor of Loreto, René Chávez, because it distorts the agreements reached with the intermediation of the Government in the so-called Technical Table of Block 95created by RM 144-2022-MINEM/DM, a space for dialogue established for more than 14 months to address the implementation of the Development Fund for the Puinahua District (Fund 2.5).

According to the oil company, its representatives were forced to withdraw from the meeting, as was the Puinahua Autonomous Board (JAP), which represents the majority of the population, at the request of Aidecobap (Indigenous Association for Development and Conservation of Bajo Puinahua). ), an act that was endorsed by the governor. In this way, the agreements reached would be rendered null and void, since two key actors were not present.

“We denounce that at the meeting there were representatives of federations from other oil basins that did not participate in the Technical Table of Block 95 or in another space for dialogue related to the Puinahua problem. This fact is a clear sign of an attempt to politicize the discussion around the Fund 2.5″, PetroTal specified.

It should be noted that Fund 2.5 has been designed to finance social development projects and interventions that will benefit the 18 towns of the Puinahua district and will guarantee the post-oil life of the district, where the Bretaña Norte Field is located.

“We are concerned, as the only contributor to Fund 2.5, that its Governance is put at risk, leaving out the communities, towns and hamlets of Puinahua, whose opinion is important to improve the quality of life in the district and ensure post-oil savings for life”they highlighted.

Finally, the company in its statement indicated that it is inadmissible to seek agreements under illegal measures when President Dina Boluarte had stated that the Presidency of the Council of Ministers (PCM) would lead the delegation that would address the social conflict.
