APEC 2024 seeks to boost foreign trade

Peru will receive, in November of this year, the presidency of the next Asia-Pacific Cooperation Forum (APEC 2024) in San Francisco (United States). Thus, it will become for the third time host of the event that brings together the 21 economies of this region, announced the ambassador Carlos Chavez Tafurchair of the working group organizing the summit.

The official stressed that the importance of this event lies in the fact that this region represents around 65% of the global GDP and approximately 50% of the world trade. “The presence of the United States, China, Russia and Japan gives a very important economic dynamic,” she commented during a meeting at the Foreign Ministry.

Among the main issues to be discussed at APEC 2024 is the formalization of informal agents in tourism and other sectors through digital technologies. The challenges facing creative industries for tourism in the region will also be identified.

For its part, in what corresponds to Foreign Trade, the interoperability of the VUCE (Single Window for Foreign Trade) in other APEC member countries.

Meanwhile, APEC 2024 will have for the first time the female empowerment in commerce within its agenda. To do this, it will hold a joint meeting of women’s ministers and foreign trade ministers of the countries that make up the region.

Finally, the problem of the food insecurity. This axis will be oriented to reduce the loss of food waste. In addition, it will have the participation of a senior official of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).
