Spotted parsley is also called spotted sorrel, pig lice, spotted madness or “dog parsley”. it is inconspicuous and hardly anyone pays attention to it during a walk, because it looks like parsley, parsnip and horseradish. However, it is one of the most poisonous plants of the celery family. It grows in meadows, wastelands or along roads. You will recognize it by the fact that it emits a specific smell, similar to the intense smell of garlic. “Dog’s parsley” contains toxic chemicals that make it highly poisonous. This includes horse meat. Virtually every part of the plant is harmful to humans. Watch out for flowers, leaves, stems and roots.

How to recognize “dog parsley” poisoning? It is better not to underestimate these symptoms

Symptoms of “dog’s parsley” poisoning include cramps, weakness, loss of sensitivity to stimuli, photophobia, diarrhoea, profuse salivation or lowering the temperature. Changes occur a moment after eating the plant, so for the sake of health, it is worth walking safely and not leaving children unattended. If you know that parsley has been ingested, go to the hospital as soon as possible. Professional gastric lavage may be necessary. Accidentally touching the plant should not lead to poisoning, as long as you wash your hands with soap and water as soon as possible and do not touch your mouth or eyes with them.
