The Minister of Economy and Finance, Pedro Francke, acknowledged that there was a misunderstanding from the PCM regarding the closure of four mines in Ayacucho, where Prime Minister Mirtha Vásquez announced an accompaniment process to evaluate its continuity.
In dialogue with RPP Noticias, the head of the MEF considered that the message sent to civil and private actors regarding the installation of a commission to assess environmental damage and feasibility of operations was distorted.

“I think it was a misunderstanding, because the minutes spoke of setting up a commission. I am not an expert, but I have understood that there is a process for the closure of mines that includes several stages, ”said Francke.
Likewise, the minister specified that in the area of influence, comprised in the southern regions of Ayacucho, there are some mining projects that are still in a not definitive stage for their closure, since they keep minerals to be exploited.
“In the area there are different mines, some of them, indeed, in the last stage; but others are making significant investments and are asking for an expansion, for which they must complete the procedures to ensure environmental protection. I think that different situations were mixed, a little more dialogue was lacking, ”said the minister.
“I was in the dialogue of the premier (Mirtha Vásquez) with the SNMPE, I think it was a very fruitful meeting and that this has been well clarified,” he added.
