PP + Cs rejects in their entirety the budgets of the Basque Government, for being “far” from reality

The group has tabled an amendment to the entirety in addition to about 1,500 partial amendments. The spokesman Luis Gordillo has denounced the “inability of this government to execute” the budgets. They advocate increasing endowments in education, the health sector and the productive sector.

PP+Cs has exhausted the deadline and presented this Friday in the Basque Parliament a amendment to the whole of the budgets of the Government of Euskadi for 2022, plus about 1500 partial amendments, understanding that they are accounts “far away” from the Basque socio-economic reality, and based on forecasts “clearly out of date” who estimated a 9% growth in Basque GDP when it will grow this year by around 5%, four points less.

Coalition spokesperson, Luis Gordillo, has criticized “the lack and recurrent inability of this government to execute” the budgets, since, according to its estimates, the Executive has more than 1 billion unrealized budgeted surplus.

PP + Cs proposes that this amount be returned to families and the productive sector -at the rate of a third in 2022 (around 350 million), and the rest during the following two- so that they are the ones who execute them while there are needs business and social issues due to the crisis caused by the pandemic. In the last three years, Gordillo has remarked, it has not reached 50% of execution and, he has added, “if it has been unable to execute 500 million, how are they going to execute 1,200 as proposed for 2022.

PP + Cs also proposes to undertake a “revision and simplification” of the public sector to save costs and avoid overlaps with other Basque administrations, as well as the creation of a specific fund for the recovery of the Basque productive sector, endowed with 650 million, another with another 200 million, destined to continuous training, and another 150 million more to carry carried out conciliation and social policies. That money would be obtained from reviewing and adjusting the actual execution of the various endowments.

Asked about his assessment of the negotiations and conversations held by the coalition with the Department of Economy and Finance led by Pedro Azpiazu, Luis Gordillo recalled that they went to them “in good faith” to present our proposals but they found that the budget had already been agreed with the two partners of government.

Gordillo has clarified that his coalition does not close an agreement, on the contrary, what happens is that, although the meetings were “cordial”, they did not appreciate a “real” willingness to agree, because there was no “will to yield” in a matter, for example, fundamental for them as it was to return to families and companies that money that this government has leveraged while there are business and social needs, “he concluded.
