The annualized inflation advanced 7.90% to May in Metropolitan Lima, the lowest in 14 months, after having increased 0.32% in the last month, according to Resolution No. 154-2023 of the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI).
Likewise, the variation from January to May is 2.67% in the country’s capital. Although the inflationary levels have been presenting reductions, these are occurring “still slowly”, stated the economist Juan Carlos Odar.
It should be noted that in April, annualized inflation reached 7.97% in April, the lowest in 12 months. This increase was the second highest of the year and the accumulated variation was 2.35%.
For its part, inflation at the national level rose 0.31% at the national level, while the accumulated inflation at the national level is 2.98% in the fifth month of the year.
The Consumer Price Index at the National Level and for Metropolitan Lima corresponding to the month of May 2023 were approved by the Chief Resolution published today in El Peruano.
