Brazilian football player of Zenit complained of racism

The player of “Zenith” and the youth national team of Brazil Robert Renan complained about racism at the MFM

Brazil U20 and Zenit St. Petersburg football player Robert Renan on Instagram (the social network is banned in the Russian Federation; owned by Meta Corporation, recognized as an extremist organization and banned in Russia) complained about racism after the match at the World Youth Championship in Argentina.

On May 31, in the 1/8 final match, the Brazilian national team defeated Tunisia with a score of 4: 1. Renan received a red card and was sent off at the end of the first half. The player said that after that, racially motivated insults began to arrive on his social networks.

In response, the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) filed a protest with the International Football Federation. “CBF strongly condemns any discriminatory act in football and will no longer tolerate such incidents in sport,” the statement said.

The 19-year-old Brazilian moved to Zenit in January 2023. He played in the blue-white-blue ten matches in all tournaments, in which he did not excel in effective actions. Before that, the defender played for the Brazilian Corinthians.
