He Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) would grant sOnly S/200 million as fiscal space for collective bargaining in 2024, informed the Front of State Workers of Peru to La República. This figure is released after union leaders from the public sector denounce obstacles and delays by the Executive for the delivery of the financial report, which had a deadline of June 30, and which will allow centralized negotiations to begin.
As the unions previously warned, this revealed amount is lower than the floor granted from 2022 to 2023, which began with S/370 million and managed to progressively rise to 1,000 million. This shortening of resources has caused alarm among state workers.
“It is an insult to the working class of the country, it was expected to improve or at least maintain. We reject this dilation and ask the Government to be honest with its technical proposal with real figures”, said José Sandoval, spokesperson for the union, who stressed that around 562,000 workers of the CAS 276, 728 and 1057 regimes would be harmed.
For his part, José Miguel Delgado, president of the Unasse confederation and coordinator of the Expanded State Unit, warned that the previous amount obtained was “insufficient” and a reduction for next year would only “cause worker dissatisfaction and social conflicts,” he reiterated.
