The Academy for Women Entrepreneurs AWE Ecuador (for its acronym in English), implemented by the Quito Chamber of Commerce (CCQ) together with the United States Embassy and Consulate in Ecuador, won the award for best unconventional project at the World Chambers of Commerce.
The contest was held during the 12th World Congress of Chambers of Commerce in Dubai, the world’s largest thought leadership conference for chambers of commerce and their business members worldwide.
The winning project is replicated in 70 countries and competed against the Austrian Stryrian Chamber of Commerce, the German Potsdam Chamber of Commerce and the Turkish Chamber of Commerce and Industry, according to the CCQ.

María Fernanda Garza, vice president of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), said that the program gives participants the opportunity to improve the skills necessary to grow their businesses, “providing specialized mentors and world-renowned tools to help women to better understand leadership, management, finances, marketing and social networks ”.

AWE Ecuador was born four years ago with the support of the American Embassy and the University of Thunderbid through the Dream Builder platform.
At AWE Ecuador they have been trained and developed more than 1,000 female entrepreneurs. They have been able to increase income and employment levels.
Meanwhile, in the World Chamber of Commerce competition there were four categories: best digital project, best resilient project, best climate action project and best unconventional project.
