Homes and buildings in the upper and middle strata will be able to access the BonoGas program

The Ministry of Energy and Mines (Minem) announced that, through the BonoGas program, it will finance more household connections in Lima, Callao, Ica, La Libertad, Ancash and now also in Cajamarca, Lambayeque, Arequipa, Moquegua and Tacna. This, in compliance with the new government policy to massify and intensify the use of natural gas and bring its benefits to more Peruvian families.

To achieve this objective, Minem approved the amendment to the Annual Promotion Plan (PAP) 2021, which allocates an additional budget of more than 219 million soles to the BonoGas program from the Social Energy Inclusion Fund (sheets).

The program implemented to date in Lima, Callao, Ica, Áncash and Freedom finances the installation of three natural gas connection points in homes for the kitchen, hot tub, dryer or other appliance, which translates into great financial savings.

As recalled, the program covers 100% of the installation in low-income households. In the lower middle stratum, coverage is 50%; in the middle, 50%, and provides a term of up to 10 years to return the financing, without interest.

With the amendment, these benefits are maintained, but now, with the aim of massifying natural gas and replacing the use of GLP and electricity, households and buildings of the upper and middle strata have also been included, which will be able to access the program by returning 100% of the financing of the facilities in all the mentioned regions.

The new regulation has also included the financing of additional points in homes that already have natural gas in order to intensify the use of natural gas, replacing LPG and electricity. To implement this benefit, specific technical guidelines will be established.

The cost of the promotion margin will also be refinanced to users of La Libertad, Cajamarca, Lambayeque, Ancash, Arequipa, Moquegua and Tacna that were connected before the arrival of the program, so that the amounts of their natural gas receipts decrease.

With regard to natural gas networks, BonoGas It will cover the cost of its construction in the localities of Lima, Ica and Arequipa, to benefit populations that still cannot access natural gas.
