The Executive Power today promulgated the law that declares the food emergency at the national level and the continuity of the 2021-2022 agricultural season of national interest and public necessity, which was approved at the end of October by the Congress of the republic.
With this norm, the Executive Power is exhorted, so that, through its competent sectors, in coordination with regional governments and local governments, carry out urgent actions, in order to give continuity to the 2021-2022 agricultural season and the support of agricultural producers at the national level.
Likewise, it seeks to address the food emergency of the vulnerable population, and provide support for the proper functioning of popular soup kitchens, common pots and social programs.
To this end, the Multisectoral Commission on Food and Nutritional Security will be entrusted with monitoring and coordinating urgent actions to be implemented in the context of the food emergency and the continuity of the 2021-2022 agricultural season; providing detailed report of the actions to the Agrarian, Production, Micro and Small Business and Cooperatives, and Social Inclusion and People with Disabilities of the Congress of the Republic, on a quarterly basis during the period of the food emergency and the 2021-2022 agricultural season.
