A wedding without alcohol. Can it be successful in Poland? “Only the kids had fun”

– A dozen or so people informed us that they would not appear at the wedding – Maja recalls her alcohol-free wedding. – Half of the guests were gone by 10 pm, and probably only the closest family survived until the end – says Magda. – For the first time I felt good, and drunk uncles did not catch me – says Beata.

It is impossible not to notice that in Poland alcohol is one of the obligatory elements of family events. More and more people, however, decide to break with their current habits and more and more often we hear not only about weddings without children, but also weddings without alcohol. This topic evokes a lot of emotions, so we asked a few people who had the opportunity to be at such a wedding or decided to do it themselves, what are their thoughts.

A wedding without alcohol? “The wedding ended just after midnight”

Maja and Robert decided to celebrate a non-alcoholic celebration, seven years ago they got married in a civil ceremony, and then, among a hundred people, they had fun at a wedding without alcohol. “I never wanted to throw a party for uncles who only came to drink. A dozen or so people informed us that they would not be attending the wedding. Perhaps it was the information that there would be no alcohol. We took care of interesting dishes, good music, there were no clichéd wedding parties. I think most of them had a great time.

Marta, on the other hand, has a completely different opinion on alcohol-free weddings. – Last year I was at an alcohol-free wedding of a young couple who decided to do it because of the “trend”. Effect? The dance floor was empty, and only the children were having fun. It seems to me that at some point even the young couple regretted this decision – he says.

Magda attended her cousin’s alcohol-free wedding a few years ago. – Half of the guests were gone by 10 pm, and probably only the closest family survived until the end. The wedding ended just after midnight. I was bored, but as far as I know, the bride and groom were very happy. For comparison, I would like to add that a week later I was at a friend’s wedding, where people were having fun until six in the morning – she recalls.

A wedding without alcohol? “I felt good for the first time”

Beata has a completely different opinion on this subject. – For me, alcohol-free weddings are a discovery. I was on one a year ago and for the first time I felt good, and drunk uncles did not catch me. Instead of alcohol, there was a bar where bartenders prepared non-alcoholic drinks to order. It was a hit! Everyone was delighted, and the fun was great – he says.

– It seems to me that in addition to the preferences of the bride and groom, it is worth taking into account the type of your guests. Some will have a great time at an alcohol-free wedding, while others will not necessarily. I have a comparison, because in September I was at two weddings without alcohol. One ended before midnight, and the other guests had fun until dawn – says Julia.
