Economy Commission postpones debate on the reform of the pension system

This Wednesday, May 24, the Economic Commission of the Congress of the Republic met to start the debate on the proposal to reform the Peruvian pension system. However, several legislators disagreed in starting such a discussion when the working group, chaired by Jorge Montoya, which was formed with the same objective, has not yet submitted its final report. in this wayIt was agreed to review the ruling after June 4.

The president of the Economic Commission, rosangella barbaran, arranged to read the opinion made up of 27 bills even when the session did not have a statutory quorum. Congressmen Carlos Anderson (not grouped), Jorge Montoya (Popular Renewal), Guido Bellido (Perú Bicentenerio), German Tacuri (Bloque Magisterial), among others, argued that they should first wait for the proposal of the Working Group in charge of the Study of proposals for the strengthening and improvement of the Pension Systems.

“It seems wrong to me that we have today a proposal for the Peruvian pension system when the opinion does not contain, because it is not yet ready, the work of the pension group. We have worked there for several months, under the presidency of Admiral Montoya, we have reached very interesting forms of consensus based on the exchange of ideas with different actors and I think that at least this proposal should have waited to receive the conclusions of the work”Anderson noted.

For his part, Montoya recalled that they had already presented a previous report that indicated the 4 axes that the final proposal will have and promised to issue the final document until June 4. It should be remembered that the Executive also has until the end of May to present its proposal.
