More than 77,000 new affiliates joined the Ecuadorian Social Security Institute (IESS), from April 2022 to the same month this year, which represents an increase of 2%, according to the entity.

IESS states that it had 3,681,094 branches in 2022, and currently has more than 3,758,000 who have access to benefits granted by social security.

For the second month in a row, the IESS receives a record figure: its collection reached $864 million in April

“This encouraging increase shows the constant effort of the institution to reach as many people as possible and provide them with social protection. The current administration of IESS has introduced changes and improvements that enable better service to its policyholders,” the institution’s statement reads.

As part of the improvement, they point out that the voluntary membership procedure is 100% online and available 24 hours a day through the website www.iess.gob.ec.

They also credit “the incorporation of new technologies and optimization of processes that have allowed IESS to reach more people.”

In April this year, IESS also raised a record amount of $864 million, surpassing the $39 million raised in March, and in April 2022, it exceeded $93.6 million.
