The National Society of Mining, Oil and Energy (SNMPE) described as a positive measure for the development of the country, the decision of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers (PCM) to rectify the agreements it signed last week with authorities of the Ayacucho provinces of Lucanas, Parinacochas and Páucar del Sara, which had the closure of four mining units.
“We welcome that through a public statement the PCM rules out the closure and request for the unilateral withdrawal of the mining operations in Ayacucho and that it expresses its full respect for the regulations in force that govern the productive activities of the mining sector, ”the union said in a statement.
Given this, the SNMPE ratified its willingness to work together with the Peruvian State on the sustainability and competitiveness of the mining industry, which is an important ally in the process of reactivating the national economy and closing social gaps.
Likewise, the mining-energy union urged the Government to guarantee the full validity of the rule of law and clear rules that allow the Peru remain a reliable destination for domestic and foreign investment.
He also invoked to set aside contradictory messages and / or actions that only generate uncertainty and mistrust among the investors; and rather that measures to promote investment are dictated with the purpose of consolidating the economic reactivation and recovering the millions of jobs that were lost during the pandemic.
“In the current social and political situation in the country, it is urgent to seek consensus and build the necessary trust between the State, the private sector and civil society to guarantee the development of a modern, socially and environmentally responsible mining that is always willing to work for the progress of Peru ”, affirmed the SNMPE.
The energy mining union pointed out that the great challenge is to make viable the portfolio of mining projects estimated at more than 56,000 million dollars that will generate more than 2,500,000 new jobs.
