“This important advance occurred after completing the foundation work in that space,” the MTC said in a press release.

The portfolio also detailed that the future terminal will have a space of 25,000 m², will have departure and arrival halls, areas for security control processes for departures, migrations, and passports for international flights.

Likewise, he highlighted that the foundation of the passenger terminal area for domestic flights, which will have eight boarding rooms, has also begun.

“The airport has a total area of ​​450 hectares and will be the second largest in the country. Earthmoving works are 97% complete and will end in July,” he said.

What state is the construction of the Chinchero airport in?

Currently, the design of the passenger terminal and the control tower is being developed, which are being reviewed and evaluated by the supervisor and the Project Management Office (PMO) for subsequent approval by the Ministry of Transportation. and Communications (MTC).

The design phase includes the construction of works such as the maneuver area, fence and perimeter track, parking platforms, parking areas and access roads, electrical system, control tower and other buildings.

The Chinchero Cusco International Airport will have the capacity to serve 11 flights simultaneously, 25 operations per hour between landings and takeoffs, and more than 12 million passengers per year. That is, four times more than what was served in 2019 at the Velasco Astete Airport.
