He National United Front of Petroperú SA Trade Unions He denounced a media campaign to reprivatize the Talara lots, in days that the Peruvian Government, after 30 years of contracts with foreign companies, manages its reversion to the state oil company.
Through a joint statement, the Petroperú unions extended their support to the head of the Ministry of Energy and Mines (Minem), Oscar Vera Gargurevichand they specified that there is a lobby orchestrated by the media, congressmen and former officials of the state company that “during their management they did a lot of damage to the company.”
“The workers of Petroperú express our full support for the management and position of Minister Oscar Vera Gargurevich, a renowned specialist with more than 40 years of work in the hydrocarbons industry. In this sense, we reject all this brutal media campaign against him.” , maintains the statement.
In this sense, the workers of the first state company in Peru assured that, currently, the reserves in the northwest basin are totally “deteriorated”, due to the fact that in the last three decades nothing more than crude oil drainage has been carried out, and no exploration as offered in writing. These companies intend to stay for another 30 years.
“Since these lots were privatized in the 1990s, Petroperú has paid between 1994 and 2021 an amount that exceeds US$ 22,000 million to buy from private operators the same oil that previously belonged to it,” he continues.
Finally, the union front demanded from President Dina Boluarte a restructuring of Petroperú’s management team, the repowering of the Conchán Refinery, and placing the North Peruvian Oil Pipeline (ONP) under military guard.
“Oil workers have declared ourselves in an emergency and on alert against the powerful privatizing lobbies,” he noted.
