In the framework of Mother’s Day, the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) reported that 47.7% of mothers who carry out economic activities do so independently. Likewise, it is detailed that 39.6% are salaried women and 12.5% work as unpaid relatives.
Along these lines, the registry also indicates that 80.2% of women aged 15 and over work in a small or micro-enterprise with 1 to 10 employees. On the other hand, 4.1% in medium-sized companies (11 to 50 workers) and 15.5% in companies of 51 people or more.
Currently, 68.3% are part of the Economically Active Population (PEA), of which 96% participate in the labor market as employed persons and 4.0% are looking for employment. Meanwhile, 31.7% of mothers make up the Economically Non-Active Population (Non-EAP).
It should be noted that, during 2022, 68.7% of the mothers worked in the areas of services (40.7%) and commerce (28.0%), while 22.5% worked in agricultural activities , fishing, mining, 8.3% in Manufacturing and 0.4% in construction.
