Non-primary manufacturing increased 9.1% in September compared to the same month of 2019, before the pandemic, according to the Central Reserve Bank of Peru (BCRP). m
This result was driven by the higher production of mass consumer goods (13.2%), investment-oriented (7.2%), inputs (8.2%) and foreign market-oriented (2.2%) .
While compared to September 2020, non-primary manufacturing grew 12.7%.
The BCRP explained that the increase in the production of consumer goods reflected the growth of branches such as furniture, various manufactures and pharmaceutical products.
In the production of investment-oriented goods, the growth of the cement, machinery and equipment, and metal products branches stands out. Within the production of inputs, the growth in the branches of plastics, explosives and chemical essences and paper and cardboard packaging stands out.
Finally, it was reported that, in seasonally adjusted terms, non-primary manufacturing increased 1.4% compared to the previous month, ranking above pre-pandemic levels.
