Ulíses Solís, general manager of Macusani Yellowcakeannounced that the company will start the procedures to explore greater uranium deposits in its Quebrada Blanca project, located in the district of Corani, province of Carabaya, region Fist.
As part of his presentation at the XIII International Congress of Prospectors and Explorers – proEXPLO 2023, Solís assured that they already have the social license and are getting ready to present the necessary documentation to resume uranium exploration work in the area after six years.
“We have just signed an agreement with the peasant community of Isivilla. We are going to expand Quebrada Blanca because we have found a large volume of uranium. We already have the permit and we are going to present the environmental instrument to the General Directorate of Mining Environmental Affairs”indicated.
Solís highlighted the benefits and harmlessness of the “natural uranium” with which the communities in the area of influence live, and remarked that deposits with high radioactivity have been identified.
“I trust our authorities because our environmental instrument to expand lithium resources took 20 months, I don’t know how long it will take to explore for uranium. I hope they are more diligent, because the communities are eager for work”
It should be noted that the uranium deposits that Macusani Yellowcake will explore are located in an archaeological reserve, although the company has guaranteed that it will comply with their preservation. They are not directly related to the Falchani lithium deposits, which lie elsewhere on the Macusani Plateau.
“It is not that we have discovered everything, before there were up to 7 junior foreign companies drilling for uranium. We have begun to join them with transfer of properties, absorbed and pool the resources that they had drilled”, said the director of Macusani Yellowcake.
“We have 124 million pounds of uranium as resources, we have not explored more since 2017, this year we plan to do it because White Creek It is the project that will give us a large amount of resources,” he added.
