The workers of Petroperugrouped in the National United Front of Petroperú SA Unions, issued a statement expressing “their total support for the management and nationalist position” of the Minister of Energy and Mines, Oscar Vera Gargurevich.
In this sense, they asked President Dina Boluarte for the approval and publication in El Peruano of the Supreme Decree granting the oil lots to the state company.
“Oil workers have declared ourselves in an emergency and on alert against the powerful privatization lobbies, led by questioned former Petroperú officials, who in their management did a lot of damage to the oil company and who now feeling affected by the non-renewal of these oil contracts, seek to destabilize the leading company in the country,” they stated.
They also highlighted that during the 30 years that the oil lots were concessioned to the private sector, the state company was forced to buy the oil that was theirs at international prices.
“Since these oil lots were privatized in the 1990s, the national oil company Petroperú SA has paid, between the years 1994 and 2021, an amount that exceeds US$22,000 million to buy the same oil from private operators that it previously belonged,” they detailed.
Finally, they requested the Restructuring of the Management Plan of the Petroperú SA Company, the repowering of the Conchán Refinery and the Iquitos Refinery, as well as the declaration of emergency and custody by the Peruvian Army of the Nor Peruano Pipeline, having been declared a nationally criticized asset. .
