The next 30 days will see a slight decrease in gasoline prices compared to April last year, according to Petroecuador. As of Friday, May 12, the proposed benchmark per gallon of super premium 95 will be $3.97 and for ecoplus 89 a gallon will be $3.01.

These suggested prices are adjusted every month. In April, super gasoline of 95 octane cost $3.99, and ecoplus of 89 octane cost $3.15.

New recommended gasoline prices: a gallon of super drops to $3.99, and ecoplus goes to $3.15

The public company pointed out that only extra and ecopais gasolines receive a subsidy from the state with a frozen price, whose value per gallon is $2.40, while diesel is $1.75.

According to Petroecuador, the calculation – as every month – is based on the current prices of oil and its derivatives on the international market, aspects that are external and do not directly depend on the country or the public company.

In New York, the price of Texas Intermediate (WTI) – which serves as a reference for Ecuador – closed this Thursday down 2.3%, at $70.87 a barrel, on fears about the future of energy demand and on concerns about stagnation debt in the United States. The price of oil was also influenced by the growth of the dollar exchange rate against other currencies, which made crude oil more expensive for foreign buyers, according to international agencies.

Domestically, 60% of fuel shipments correspond to the automotive sector, which was 560 million gallons in the first three months of the year out of a total of 927.5 million destined for all sectors such as industrial, aviation, marine and artisanal fishing. .

Petroecuador stated that “it has stock enough fuel in its refineries, clean product terminals and gas stations to supply consumers in a timely manner”.
