AFP Retirement 2023: what proposals call for a seventh release of funds and why does none show any progress?

There are already seven proposals that join the range of requests in search of a new release of the individual funds of the AFPs. The most recent initiative is in charge of the congressman Jaime Quito, who proposes that affiliates can voluntarily have a seventh AFP withdrawal of up to 5 UIT (S/24,750). However, there are other proposals such as Digna Calle, which were presented three months ago and to date are awaiting a opinion without registering any progress in their debate. What are these legislative initiatives and why are they frozen? We tell you here.

New AFP withdrawal: what proposals have been presented?

  • AFP withdrawal of up to 4 UIT (S/19,800)
  • AFP withdrawal of up to 3 UIT (S/14,850)
  • AFP withdrawal of 50% of funds
  • AFP withdrawal of 70% of funds
  • AFP withdrawal of 50% of funds for home purchase
  • AFP withdrawal of 3 UIT (S/14,850)
  • AFP withdrawal of 5 UIT (S/24,750).

New AFP withdrawal: why are the proposals not advancing?

In order for the seven proposals that propose a new AFP withdrawal to advance in their opinion, it is essential that the Economy Commissionunder the presidency of the congresswoman from Fuerza Popular rosangella barbaran, broach the topic. In one of her responses, the legislator mentioned that there are 50 bills related to pensions and that today the “priority” is the pension system reform, and that, for this reason, the AFP withdrawal proposals remain on hold.

“I think so (these proposals remain on standby), it is the most responsible thing. What worries me is how many people are going to be left unprotected after so many withdrawals,” he told Latina. However, these expressions, regarding the drilling of the funds, contradict her position by promoting the approval of the ONP Recognition Bond, whose fiscal expenditure will represent an average of S / 40,000 million, according to estimates of the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF).

“They play in favor of the AFPs”

On repeated occasions, legislator Digna Calle, author of the project that proposes the withdrawal of S/19,800 (4 UIT), has questioned the delay of her PL and that it was only at the end of March that the officials involved began to be summoned, whom she accused to be “in line with the interests of the pension administrators”.

“They do everything possible to file my project of Withdrawal of 4 UITs from the AFPs. To date, they do not cite the authors, they have only listened to all the defenders of the economic interests of the AFPs, those who do not think that the population needs economic relief,” he criticized on his Twitter account.

They urge prioritizing debate

The leader of the bench Can PeruJosé Luna, addressed a letter this Tuesday, May 9, to parliamentarian Rosangella Barbarán to urge her to schedule the Calle Lobatón proposal with priority, in the midst of a context of unemployment and inflation.

“From Podemos Peru once again, we demand that the Economy Commission to prioritize the debate and approval of the withdrawal opinion 4 UIT AFP, do not turn your back on the people, but we will see each other again in the streets,” legislator José Luna wrote on his networks.
