They seek that workers who take care of their parents receive family allowance

Congressman Jorge Luis Flores Ancachi, from the Acción Popular bench, proposes that private sector workers with elderly parents also receive the household allowance. According to the law, workers whose remunerations are not regulated by collective bargaining receive 10% of the minimum vital remuneration (RMV) for having minor children or up to 24 years of age if they are studying.

Since May 2022, when the RMV The family allowance also rose to S/1,025 from S/93.00 to S/102.50.

PL 4925, presented on May 8, 2023, states that article 2 of Law 25129 must be modified to add the following paragraph: In the same way, workers who have a family burden, for their children, have the right to receive a family allowance. that they take care of their elderly parents and do not have dependent minor children, nor with basic needs and that meet the requirements established by this law.

“It should be noted that this law will not only benefit the children who take care of their elderly parents, but also the elderly who will be able to count on additional financial support for their maintenance and care. Likewise, A culture of care and protection of the elderly will be promoted, fostering respect and appreciation towards this vulnerable population”is stated in the document.

In addition, it specifies that these workers must meet certain requirements: be of legal age and not have sufficient income for maintenance, be in charge of elderly parents with a minimum age of 60 years and be economically dependent, and have a socioeconomic evaluation that determines their situation.

The initiative must go through the evaluation of the commissions of the Congress of the Republic before reaching the Plenary for debate and voting.
