The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAG) announced and started the construction of 70 Centers for Agricultural Productive Community Development (CDPAC) in the provinces of Carchi, Imbabura, Pichincha, Cotopaxi, Tungurahua, Bolívar, Chimborazo, Cañar, Azuay and Loja, characterized by high milk production and participation of small producers in places.

The Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, Eduardo Izaguirre Marín, laid last Monday the first stone of the center that will be built in Cayambe and will start working.

The minister assured that the centers will enable the formalization of 280,000 liters of raw milk per day, which will add value and benefit 77,000 producers, but will also serve to promote the marketing of products grown in the area so that producers get a fair price.

“These will not be cold centers, built with bricks and mortar. They will be the cradle of the generation of ideas; These will be places where you will organize, strengthen your association, generate work, progress and well-being to change the lives of producers in the countryside,” said Izaguirre in front of the 42 members of the Faldas del Cayambe Agro-Industrial Association, who will be the first beneficiaries of this CDPAC.

To date, a minimum of 49.78 cents plus supplements is paid per liter of milk on the farm, and for the application of the new law, it will be necessary to wait six months for its regulation

The centers will have areas for cooling tanks, a laboratory for receiving milk, a multi-purpose room, a warehouse, offices, sanitary batteries and a medical office where the residents of the communities will be able to go.

Izaguirre noted that with these centers the regime will carry out extensive intervention in rural areas. In CDPAC, there will be various services provided by the Government, such as loans, training, access to connectivity networks, vaccination campaigns, literacy campaigns, road plans, capacity building, entrepreneurial plans.
