The work on the Autopista del Sol has been paralyzed since 2018, despite the enormous economic potential it means for La Libertad, Lambayeque and Piura. Given this, the Chamber of Commerce of La Libertad (CCLL) requested a meeting with members of the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC), in order to solve the problems of the project.
The representatives of the Chamber of Commerce met with members of the General Directorate of Transportation Programs and Projects of the MTC and the Concessionaire Vial del Sol SA (Covisol) to convey the concern and discomfort on the part of the transportation, tourism, and other sectors that are being harmed by the interruption of jobs that are only about 30% complete.
“We have met with the officials to resume coordination that contributes to reactivate the execution of the work, a route of great importance for the region since it will help improve connectivity with the north and with all regions of the country. The stoppage negatively impacts our level of competitiveness and commercial, economic and tourist growth; as well as the population of the area”, said the first vice president of the CCLL, Juan Carlos Zaplana Victoria Moon.
At the end of the meeting, the MTC officials indicated that they will monitor the work so that it is completed between 2023 and 2024. The CCLL will promote working groups with the authorities in Freedomin order to verify compliance with the deadlines.
