He Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) proposes —through Ministerial Resolution No. 0558-2023-MTC/01— to regulate access and establish the shared use of active telecommunications infrastructure at the national level in order to reduce the digital divide in the country and have more coverage of mobile services.
The initiative seeks through the sharing of active infrastructure with or without radio spectrum, operating companies can lower risks and costs associated with the deployment of infrastructure (such as antennas, radiating system, equipment and radio controllers), which would encourage investment in new infrastructure and/or reduction in rates in favor of the population.
In this way, it is expected to improve competitiveness and enable the presence of operating companies in rural population centers. As well as having a greater commercial offer and affordability of mobile services.
