Chavimochic works will be unlocked this month and restart Palo Redondo in La Libertad

Ratifying the political will that exists to be able to unlock the works of chavimochic III, the President of the Republic, Dina Boluarte announced that the efforts in the La Libertad irrigation project continue and that this month of May everything should be ready to continue with the procedures and next year the works of the Palo dam will begin Round.

The president’s announcement was made during the Regional Council of State, which is a space for coordination and intergovernmental articulation of the country, where the Governor of La LibertadCésar Acuña who greeted the announcement that was well received by the Liberteños, who consider that Chavimochic is their emblematic work, which will allow the irrigation of about 46,000 hectares of new land and the regulation of another 65,000 hectares, with which it will generate sources of work and foreign exchange income.

In recent days, MIDAGRI reported that the works of the project, which will give a notable boost to the economy through agro-export, will restart next year and will last until September 2027, after six years of paralysis of the Palo Redondo dam, which is the first phase of the third stage. These works will be carried out through the Government-to-Government modality, a detail that according to Acuña Peralta will still need to define its approval or find another mechanism to execute the project.

Lizardo Calderón, advisor to senior management of the midagriexplained that the ministry, through the PSI (Irrigation Subsectoral Program), culminated on April 5 with the final receipt of the goods and works of the concession.

This happened after the state last year won the arbitration award against the concessionaire of the megaproject.
He also indicated that three processes have been raised in the Government-to-Government contract.
