Mypes can receive up to S/90,000 at affordable rates

99% of the companies in Peru are micro and small (mypes) and, therefore, are elementary in the economy since they provide more than 80% of employment nationwide, according to the INEI.

And, despite its importance, the mypes have insured on more than one occasion that in programs such as Reactiva Peru or the FAE have not been prioritized.

After that, the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) launched Impulso a Myperú to serve them. The sector’s own minister, Alex Contreras, recently acknowledged that there are problems with access to financing in this nucleus. In total, it is expected to help 140,000 mypes.

Mypes can request loans of up to S/30,000 with 98% state coverage and from S/30,001 to S/90,000, with a 90% guarantee, but how to access? Is it for anyone?

Those interested businesses from any productive sector have to request the loan from the entities participating in the agreement with Cofide, and once the process is verified, they agree to give the capital as long as the requirements are met: having a “normal” credit classification ” or “with potential problems”. Those without prior cash or financial evaluation history can also apply. (see infographic).

fairer rates

Currently, small and micro-enterprises must honor an interest rate of 23% and 38%, respectively, according to the SBS; while for large companies it is 10%.

However, Minister Contreras assured that “mypes will pay interest rates as if they were large companies.”

“It is given to meet the need to finance them, and thus have better conditions of access to credit,” noted Óscar Orcón, director of the General Directorate of Financial Markets and Private Pensions of the MEF. After the second Cofide auction —totaling more than S/800 million allocated— with an average rate for mypes of 12.21%. In the first it was 10.81%.

Orcón pointed out that soft conditions are being given with Impulso Myperú since the beneficiaries have a term of up to five years to cancel their loans, and a grace period of 12 months, where they will only pay interest.

For example, if an entrepreneur obtains a loan of S/30,000 with a 98% guarantee, he will have an interest rate of 15% with which he will pay S/351 per month for a year. At the end of the grace period, the borrowed capital will be repaid, with a fixed fee of S/821 until the end. If you comply with all of them, the State covers the last two installments for the Good Payer Bonus, that is, S/1,642 will be saved.

They denounce bad financial practices

The Republic verified the case of some mypes from Gamarra, who contacted officials of My bank and Caja Huancayo to access Impulso Myperú, but they were rejected since the financial institution assures that, in the first place, the credits will go to their clients. Even an entrepreneur was told that Mibanco does not have any agreement, despite the fact that the rule mentions them. And at Caja Piura they denied the possibility to another “because it goes to their customers” but they offered their products.

They also require that the good payer bonus be applied at the end of the first year of interest payments.

figures

  • S / 2,168 million in credits would be placed to the mypes, according to the Government.
  • 75% of the beneficiaries are small businesses. 25% are micro.
