Senasa: Five new mango varieties will be exported in the 2021-2022 campaign

The National Agrarian Health Service (Senasa) made official the start of the mango export campaign 2021-2022 with which it intends to exceed the export of more than 200,000 tons reached during the previous campaign.

On this occasion, Senasa reported that five new mango varieties will be incorporated (Omer, Shelly, Orli, Tali and Noa) which had already been cultivated (Haden, Kent, Tommy Atkins and Edwards), which are characterized by their quality and good taste. These mango plantations are cultivated on 22 hectares of the Chira valley in Sullana, Piura.

To date, according to the Agrarian portal, the shipments of this campaign were 33,706 tons of mango from 4,881 hectares certified. The largest mango production is located in Piura in the valleys of San Lorenzo and Alto Piura. During the previous season, a total of 10,947 hectares were certified in full production.

The 2021-2022 mango export campaign in Peru extends to May of each year and continues in the regions of Lambayeque or Áncash, which close this period.
