From 2021, San Carlos campaigns for make visible the work of those involved in the preparation and marketing of the various products made from its flagship product: sugar. It was in that year that they launched the ‘The sweetest country’ campaign. It started at home, in Marcelino Maridueña, making visible the extraordinary work of its sweet inhabitants, showing that this canton is the epicenter of sweetness.

Then in 2022, he expanded his message with the national campaign ‘People of my sweet country’, taking on the task of showcasing hard-working people from all regions of the country with inspiring stories of progress.

So six ambassadors of sweetness were part of this initiative telling their sweet stories. and they tell the whole country that together with San Carlos sugar they prepare the most delicious sweets that they share with their communities and thus live in their home.

Through the segment “City workers” from CT TVSan Carlos contacted several entrepreneurs, whose stories we share below.

Joffre Navas

He sells delicious ‘Fritter Joffre Churros’ in the Ceibos sector, in the city of Guayaquil; a job he has been doing for six years with love and constant dedication, as he says: “this bite makes everyone’s life sweeter”. To prepare these delicious churros, Joffre uses three ingredients: flour, oil and, of course, San Carlos sugar.

Susan Quiroga and Anibal Carvajal

A young couple in Guayaquil who wants to one day start a big company and create a business. They are dedicated to making cakes and pastries cookies various designs, from their home in Sauces, while taking care of their little daughter. His cakes take care of all the details to make them tasty and impressive; According to Susan, it can take up to 12 hours to attach the ornament, depending on the desired design.

Julio Flores

He has been selling granite for 45 years. He states that he makes a living from this work and that he plans to make his clients’ lives sweeter for a long time to come. You can enjoy the ‘Slush of July’ every day, in front of the cemetery in Cuenca.

Mayra Diaz

She is an urban worker motivated by her family to bring delicious foam to restaurants in the center of Cuenza. He has been preparing and selling guava and blackberry mousse for more than 20 years, and with a lot of effort he goes around the streets with his product. His singing reflects the sweetness of his work.

Aleksandra Rivet

She works to support her family and is proud of her work and being part of a new generation doing work that was previously done only by men. The sweet ‘Ponche de Alexandra’ is prepared with malt, eggs and, of course, San Carlos sugar, and can be consumed every day in the Plaza Grande, in Quito. As Alexandra says, “there is no Quito who was not delighted with the rich punch.”

Monica Guaita

In the Plaza San Francisco in front of the San Roque market, San Carlos came to ‘Los helados de Mónica’, who keep alive the tradition of the sweet paila ice cream from Quito. Mónica comments that with her daily work she pays tribute to her father, who dedicated himself to this craft for more than 75 years. She starts her preparation routine at five in the morning, in order to sweeten the palates of her guests every day.

Given the success achieved, San Carlos wants to tell more stories, add more ‘sweetness ambassadors’ to the family share sweet moments. Invite them to be part of this initiative to support suppliers, promoting their work and giving up brand advertising space to make their business visible, connect them with more customers and drive their economic growth.
