From January to March, Petroecuador EP shipped 560’179,507 gallons of fuel for the automotive segment throughout the country. They reported this from a state-owned company that has 9 terminals for clean products to which these fuels are shipped.

The number of gallons shipped in this first quarter is divided among the 5 types of fuel sold at these terminals.

Diesel Premium delivered the most with 254,283,828, followed by EcoPaís with 151,910,921. Nearby was Ecoplús 89 with 141’118,146 and finally Super Premium 95 with 12’157,637. These last two fuels were introduced by Petroecuador to the national market in August and October 2022, respectively.

The state-owned company also recalled that the subsidy was maintained with the frozen prices of Extra and Ecopa gasoline at $2.40 per gallon, as well as diesel at $1.75 per gallon. However, in December 2022, the Government, by Executive Order 614, ordered the abolition of this subsidy for shrimp producers with more than 30 hectares,

Meanwhile, the state-owned company also reminded that for this month (until next May 12), the recommended reference price for gasoline Super Premium 95 is $3.99 per gallon, and for Ecoplús 89 $3.15 per gallon.

According to the National Chamber of Petroleum Distributors of Ecuador, which shows market data cut to March 23, 2023, Ecoplús 89 only has a 0.1% market share, while Super Premium 95 has 2.1%.
