The port terminal in Guayaquil (TPG) has a new guest. This is Wan Hai A01, the largest of Taiwan’s Wan Hai Lines, which has a cargo capacity of 13,200 TEU – a twenty-foot equivalent unit, which is a unit equivalent to a 20-foot container (about 28 tons).

“This is the first of many ships with these characteristics – large capacity and size (335 meters in length) – that will arrive at TPG and enable the connection of Ecuador with the Far East. Our country must commit to increasing the presence of its products in other international markets, even more if we are close to signing a trade agreement with China,” said Luisenrique Navas, General Manager of TPG.

A huge container ship that travels through several countries is named Galapagos

Navas said that foreign trade has always been a window to generate income and employment opportunities for Ecuadorians and that is why it is a fundamental pillar of the country’s economy.

About a month ago, the Wan Hai A01 embarked on its maiden voyage and joined the fleet of vessels that will connect the Far East countries with Guayaquil every week, as well as other ports on the west coast of South America.

According to TPG, among the products traded through these routes are bananas, teak, fish and shrimp meal, and alcoholic beverages.

The new port service opens a direct connection between the United States and South America

After the arrival of the ship, they performed an activity in which representatives of export companies participated and presented an award to the captain of the ship for the first voyage.

The ship belongs to the Taiwanese shipping company Wan Hai Lines, which in the last year has invested more than one billion dollars in expanding its fleet.
