Inmaculada and Pallancata mining unions concerned about closure of operations

The Sole Union of Workers of the Immaculate Mining Unit and the Federation of Workers of Compañía Minera Ares SAC, which groups two unions and represents more than 5,300 workers, expressed concern about the closure of the Inmaculada and Pallancata mining companies.

“The alleged closure measure is illegal and arbitrary and is openly contradicted by the announcements of the President of the Republic to work for the” people. ” This measure would harm thousands of families, hundreds of suppliers (large, medium and small) to the communities, as well as tens of thousands of citizens, who are part of the people that the government claims to defend and want to benefit, ”the unions said in a statement.

In this regard, the unions urged the President of the Republic, Pedro Castillo, to reverse these measures.

“We call on the President of the Republic to correct this arbitrariness, and rather that the government he leads work to attract more investments that can generate more jobs and opportunities for the Peruvian people,” he noted.

However, these mining units They are with Closure Plans in progress, established by directive resolutions approved in accordance with current legal regulations.

Given this, the presidency of the Council of Ministers (PCM) affirmed that the agreement signed with the population refers to the fulfillment of said plans within the established deadlines and under the supervision of the competent ministries as indicated in the norm.

“Therefore, We rule out that these measures are arbitrary, illegal or that contravene legal stability, as the representatives of the business unions have referred to, ”stated the PCM.
