The head of the Environmental Assessment and Enforcement Agency (OEFA), Miriam Alegría, reported that to date 82 supervision actions have been carried out on the 4 mining units located in Ayacucho, of which many have ended in sanctions.
“So far, we have carried out 82 supervision actions on these 4 mining companies in particular. Obviously, many of the supervisory actions end in an administrative sanctioning procedure that finally, if responsibility is determined, fines are imposed, ”said the official on TV Peru.
Alegría explained that in total the 4 mining companies have been imposed around a fine that amounts to 114.93 UIT, this is an average of 505,692 soles. “In total, the fines imposed on these 4 units more or less amount to half a million soles,” he emphasized.
He added that they are conducting a causality assessment in the area of influence of these units in order to verify what factors are altering the quality of the water, since this is the main problem that is being generated with the surrounding population.
