During the recent national holiday, the San Martín region was consolidated as the third favorite destination by the Peruvians, since more than 170,000 visitors arrived, which generated an economic movement of more than 36 million soles, the regional government reported.
After highlighting these figures, they indicated that the actions in favor of the tourist revival since the beginning of the pandemic, in conjunction with destination management committees, tourism companies and actors involved in the sector.
They also indicated that, despite the pandemic, in 2021 the San Martín region showed a recovery of its tourist activity by 84% compared to 2020 and it is expected that this 2022 will exceed the arrival figures of 2019.
Between the Main tourist attractions which recorded a large influx of visitors, there is Sauce, which received nearly 30,000 people; Lamas, which registered about 28,000 people, and the Ahuashiyacu Falls, which received approximately 6,000 visitors.
It was also presented at the source of the Tioyacu River, an important tourist attraction in the Alto Mayo destination, with a record of 8,600 people. Similarly, the thermal baths San Mateo de Moyobamba, the Taytamaki adventure park, Alto Shilcayo and the Ricuricocha lagoon.
The head of the Dircetur San Martín, Milner Abad, maintained that San Martín has four destinations which are the ones that most attract visitors such as: Alto Mayo, Tarapoto, Abiseo and Tocache, possessors of culture, landscapes, gastronomy, nature, adventures, fun, among others.
