The telephone company Entel plans to invest US$ 149 million this year in Peru. The amount is 27.35% higher than the US$ 117 million invested in 2021, according to Alexis Licci, general manager of the company.
“This increase comes hand in hand with the 5G deployment, which obviously requires new investments (…). We firmly believe that it is necessary to invest there, it will be very innovative,” Licci said in a virtual conference.
The representative of the Chilean-owned company also added that the largest investment is associated with the expansion of its capacity “to serve the traffic that is considerably higher”, since each year it grows by more than 30%.
“Within the investment plan that we have for next year, we are going to continue in the same line of quite important growth in terms of 5G coverage and geographic coverage,” Licci advanced.
Finally, the Entel representative pointed out that the company’s goal is to reach a market share close to 30%. At the close of the first quarter of 2022, your market share in mobile telephony was 23.7%.
In the first 3 months of this year, Entel registered 9.6 million mobile clients and more than 11,000 workers. In addition, it achieved revenues of S/ 1,100 million, 24% more than in the same period of 2021.
