Manchester City and Inter Milan qualified for the Champions League semi-finals this wednesday april 19 eliminate Bayern Munich and Benfica respectively. Therefore, the playoffs for the semifinals were defined: City will face Real Madrid and there will be derby between Inter and Milan.

Inter and Benfica met at the Giuseppe Meazza in Milan. The Italians won the first leg that was played in Lisbon 2-0 and started with an advantage. The Portuguese team needed something similar to a miracle.

However, Benfica went all out in the second leg, and although they enjoyed chances in the first ten minutes, they were not successful in front of goal. Instead, Inter scored on their first arrival at the rival goal; Barella made it 1-0 in the 14th minute after beating goalkeeper Vlachodimos with a whiplash from outside the area. Despite this, Benfica did not give up, and tied the game before the break thanks to a goal from Aurnes (1-1).

Already in the second part, Inter put their pass to the next phase of the championship on track with a goal scored by Lautaro (2-1) in the 65th minute, and the tie became very uphill for Benfica in the 78th minute, when Correa made it 3-1. Even so, Benfica continued to fight. He wanted to say goodbye to the Champions League with honor, and boy did he succeed, since in the final minutes he scored two goals, through Antonio Silva (3-2) in the 83rd minute and Muse (3-3) in 95. Thus, with a tie at three, the second leg ended, but the overall of the tie reflected a 5-3 favorable to Inter.

On the other hand, at the Allianz Arena in Munich, Bayern received Manchester City. The English team won 3-0 in the first leg, but the German team believed in a comeback. Bayern dominated the first part; had possession of the ball and generated several clear scoring chances. However, it was not the day of the strikers of the Bavarian team. The local team forgave excessively and City suffered. The team led by Guardiola hardly created any danger in the rival goal, although they almost went into half-time with an advantage. The referee awarded Manchester City a penalty in the 38th minute. Haaland was in charge of launching the maximum penalty and the Norwegian’s shot went wide over the crossbar.

Due to the failure of their rival, Bayern kept hope in the second half, but said hope did not last long, since through a counterattack Haaland entered the area and managed to beat goalkeeper Sommer (1-0). The Norwegian striker’s goal left the tie on the horizon, but Bayern kept fighting and managed to say goodbye to the Champions League without being defeated: Kimmich scored the final 1-1 after converting a penalty in the 83rd minute. In the end, Manchester City reached the semi-finals with a 4-1 aggregate victory in the tie.
