Between January and September of this year, Peruvian shipments abroad generated a total of 2 million 565,711 jobs, which translates into an increase in 14,3% With respect to 2019, exceeding what was registered before the pandemic, reported the Center for Research on Global Economy and Business of the Association of Exporters (Cien-Adex).
Only in September there were a total of 370,536, being the 22.5% non-traditional exports. Cien-Adex stressed that although this year the trend is positive, they warned that 2022 points to be a difficult year because many external economies will regain stability, so Peru must take advantage of the situation to prepare.

Likewise, in the accumulated January-September, the level of employment associated with shipments abroad was increased in 22 regionsLima being the one that had the greatest increase with 26.1% of the total. It is followed by Ica with 13.2% and La Libertad with 11.3%, concentrating together 50.9%. On the other hand, the three regions with the lowest labor index were Huánuco, Loreto and Huancavelica.
Regarding GDP, the accumulated from January to September in the exports generated US $ 65,151 million, which meant an increase of 43.6%. This is due to positive exports in traditional mining, 47.4% in terms of the associated GDP, and in agribusiness, 21.8%.
The sectors in detail
According to Cien-Adex, from January to September total employment in the primary sector was 948,044, which meant an increase of 29.5% and a representation of 37% of the total. While in the not traditional the figure was 1 million 617,667, growing 25.9% and concentrating the remaining 63%.
The agroinductria It was the activity with the highest increase in terms of jobs, with a figure of 1 million 052,677, which represents an increase of 17.1% thanks to a greater export of the so-called superfoods, which have greater added value

The clothing they ranked third in job creation with 202,735 and a positive variation of 61.8% driven by higher demand for labor to export pajamas, baby clothes, dresses and more.
On the other hand, with a decline of 5.4% and 191,561 jobs created, there is the traditional agro sector. Cien-Adex explained that this is due to lower exports of coffee and fish for human consumption. In this last sector, shipments of port and canned squid, fan shells, among others, represented 29.2% of the total with 143,176 authorized jobs.
Finally, there are traditional fishing with 80,668 (53.5%), iron and steel industry with 45,504 jobs (77.6%), textiles with 37,690 (61%), non-metallic mining with 34,935 (53.8%), ‘ various’ with 30,062 (43.3%), chemical with 28,371 (23.6%), metalworking with 23,033 (17.8%), wood with 19,484 (29.4%), wood with 17,299 (34.6%) and hydrocarbons with 3,273 (27.6%).
