Wedding industry recovers by more than 50% and is close to pre-pandemic levels

Making the decision to get married is an important step in many people’s lives and, furthermore, the wedding industry It is one of the most relevant for the economy, since it covers various items, such as flower shops, catering, clothing, souvenirs, parties, among other sectors.

Although during the COVID-19 pandemic it was greatly affected due to the fact that many events had to be cancelled, reduce their capacity or take place virtually, in the last three years it has shown a favorable recovery. According to the Association of Municipalities of Peru (AMPE), in 2020, only between 10,000 and 15,000 ceremonies, but this year it is expected to reach 100,000.

“There is quite a lot of demand right now. The wedding industry is on the rise. It is recovering more than 50% and returning to what was the historical number of 100,000 weddings throughout Peru, of which 35% were in Lima”, stated Carlos Scaglioni Vigil, general manager of the De Novios a La República corporation.

Likewise, he explained that the characteristics of the type of celebrations of 2019 are being resumed. Thus, in the market, you can find four types of weddings, with different prices: the simple (US$5,000), the traditional (US$10,000), the premium (US$20,000) and the lavish (over US$90,000). .

“At the national level, for this year it is expected to reach US$60,000 million, taking into account that each wedding spends between US$5,000 and 10,000,” Scaglioni said.

Wedding Fair 2023

This Sunday, April 23, the Autumn-Winter Couples Fair will take place. This event, which is being held in its 46th edition, will have the participation of more than 60 companies in the wedding industry. It is free for the public to enter, from 2 pm to 9 pm and will take place in La Videna (San Luis). The pedestrian entrance is through door 1 (Av. del Aire CDRA. 8) and the vehicle entrance is through door 13 (Av. Aviación CDRA.20).
