The Private Investment Promotion Agency (PROINVERSIÓN) and the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) have relaunched the award processes for the Longitudinal Highway of the Sierra Section 4 projects and the modernization of the Huancayo – Huancavelica Railway (Macho Train) with the purpose of granting these projects in concession through the modality Public-Private Partnership (PPP) and guarantee its sustainability.
In the 2 projects, which will be executed under the PPP modality co-financed by the State, A total of about US$1.2 billion will be invested, boosting the economy and improving the connectivity of the departments located in the area of influence: Junín, Huancavelica, Ica, Ayacucho and Apurímac, as reported in the event called “Vías que conectan”.
“We want to generate confidence in investors to carry out the projects that we need for the country. The Ferrocarril Huancayo – Huancavelica and the Longitudinal Highway of the Sierra Section 4 projects are essential to strengthen our connectivity, For this reason, we are working together with PROINVERSIÓN and all the actors that intervene in the process to be able to accelerate the development of the projects”, commented the Minister of Transport and Communications, Paola Lazarte, who was present at the activity.
For his part, the executive director of PROINVERSIÓN, José Salardi, highlighted that the project schedules are well defined to be awarded in the short term, and welcomed the support of the MTC to carry out the projects in the optimal times. “The MTC is the sector with the largest number of PPP projects in the country and the articulated work that we have with his team helps a lot so that we can develop all the projects that we have in the pipeline in the best way”, he added.
