The National Superintendence of Customs and Tax Administration (Sunat) has implemented new services for passengers traveling outside the country. Thus, through the Welcome to Peru app, users with destinations abroad will be able to make the declaration of temporary departure (DST) and the sworn declaration of departure of money and/or negotiable financial instruments (DJDS) through this app.
It should be noted that currently 98% of travelers already present their money and income affidavit through the application, which can be downloaded through Google Play on mobile devices.
What are the DST and DJDS?
According to the Sunat, the affidavit of temporary departure (DST) allows the passenger to declare, in advance of their trip, assets such as laptops, cell phones, tablets or other items that they will take out of the country and are not on the list of exemptions from paying taxes or exceed the amount specified as franchise. In this way, if he acquires a similar good abroad, he will be able to enter it without paying taxes.
For her part, the Affidavit of money and/or negotiable financial instruments – Exit (DJDS) consists of declaring, upon leaving the country, cash, checks, certificates, promissory notes, among others, for amounts greater than US$10,000 or its equivalent in national or other foreign currency.
