He Agency for Environmental Assessment and Enforcement (OEFA), attached to the Ministry of the Environment, detected this Saturday, April 15, the presence of hydrocarbons in the area of ​​the Multiboyas Terminal 2 of the La Pampilla SAA Refinery. Which is located in the constitutional province of Callao, in Ventanilla. This contamination would be harming the sea in the area and would reach an area of ​​approximately 300 m2.

This situation became known while the institution was verifying compliance with the measures issued to Repsol after the spill of more than 11,000 barrels of oil in Ventanilla in January 2022, one of the largest ecological disasters ever recorded.

In this way, OEFA urged the Repsol company to “immediately and urgently” report what happened and report on the actions and measures carried out in its environmental management instruments. This to “avoid minimizing or rehabilitating the impacts on the marine ecosystem and verify the causes of the environmental emergency”.

It should be noted that to date, OEFA has ordered 20 preventive measures aimed at cleaning, containment, monitoring and management of solid waste and Repsol was ordered to pay coercive fines for 620 UIT (S/2.8 million).
