The Congress of the Republic approved a supplementary credit for S/ 347 million 261,890 in favor of the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation (Midagri) to finance the acquisition and commercialization, in a subsidized way, of chemical fertilizers based on nitrogen, phosphorous and potassium nutrients.
In accordance with Law No. 31538, published today in the official newspaper El Peruano, the budget item will be destined to the purchase of fertilizers for the agrarian producers who lead agricultural units of up to ten hectares.
Currently, Midagri has a fund of S/ 348 million 887,735 for the purchase of nitrogenous urea for agricultural use destined for farmers with less than five hectares of crops and that they use this fertilizer.
To the date, three tenders have been called to find an international supplier, the first was declared void and the second was annulled. Meanwhile, the latter is in the process of evaluating offers and the result is not yet known.
The Midagri is also developing the Register of Agricultural Producers at the national level. Farmers have until December 15 to sign up for this document, which will serve as the basis for identifying the beneficiaries of the subsidized distribution of fertilizers, among others.
