Kimmerlee Gutiérrez next August 3 will complete 8 months at the head of the Regional Government of Arequipa (GRA). During this time, the governor’s administration was able to reactivate the vast majority of works by direct administration. Of the 28 in execution that found stops in January, there are none at present, according to the report of the entity itself. There were also 10 suspended projects, and now there is only 1 left.

However, the panorama is different in works carried out through companies. Gutiérrez inherited 13 paralyzed women and in June the figure has not changed. The GRA in total has been executing 47 projects by contract for the amount of S/ 133 million 388 thousand 964, of which only S/ 69 million 527 thousand 453 (51%) have been executed, remaining pending S/ 64 million 121 thousand 510, which is equivalent to 48%. Apart from those that are blocked, there are 13 finished and another 18 under construction.

“We want to solve the problems that exist in the works. For example, the Comptroller observes the executions without providing solutions and that ties us up, “said the president of the Health Commission of the Regional Council of Arequipa (CRA), Gloria Salas. She explained that a work that this management will not be able to solve, is from the Cotahuasi hospital (La Unión). The Comptroller’s Office made serious observations on the work balance file.

Another that is still stopped is that of the Camaná hospital despite the fact that there was a conciliatory arbitration award with the Camaná Health Consortium II, in April 2021. Salas said that negotiations are continuing to conclude an “approved award” that replaces the first.

The road infrastructure sector is another front with problems. After the resolutions of the contract, by the regional entity, of the construction of the first section of the “Vía 4 Carriles” and the “Añashuayco 2” bridge, both are still stopped, confirmed Alex Hualla, president of the Peruarbo Association of the Northern Cone. The leader indicated that they follow up and that the GRA is reformulating the technical files.

culminating problems

Regional councilor Gloria Salas said that there is a problem with the acquisition of equipment for the Chala de Caravelí hospital. She explained that they could be used because the first company that started the construction of the hospital did not pay its supplier.
