Altamesa will be a partner of Petroperú in Block 192

Petroperú’s board of directors agreed, during the last session on Wednesday, April 5, to send a “notification to Perupetro“in which it will request that the qualification of Altamesa Energy Canada Inc. begin in order to achieve the incorporation of the latter as a strategic partner to the License Agreement for the exploitation of Hydrocarbons in Block 192. In this way, it seeks to continue with the execution of the contract of terms and conditions for the joint investment in said area.

Previously, at the end of March, Perupetro and Petroperú signed the license contract for the exploitation of the oil block, located in the provinces of Datem del Marañón and Loreto, for 30 years.

Reactivation of Block 192

Block 192 has been paralyzed since February 2020. With the resumption of activities, which the Ministry of Energy and Mines It is estimated that for October of this year, it will reach the production of more than 12,000 barrels of oil per day in a first stage and, in the long term, the goal of 25,000 per day will be sought with greater investments on behalf of the partner. It is important to indicate that the effective start-up of Block 192 also depends on Petroperú being able to rehabilitate the route of the Norperuano Pipeline (ONP). According to the Minem, from this month the ONP would return to pumping crude oil.

Lots return to Petroperú

In the coming days, the Executive Branch would issue a supreme decree on the return of lots I, VI, Z-2B and X to the state company for the exploitation of hydrocarbons, according to the head of Minem, Óscar Vera Gargurevich. For their part, lots VII and V will go out to international bidding due to economic infeasibility for the State.
