For her part, Amora Carbajal, executive president of Promperú, indicated at the same event that During this long holiday, efforts will be made to promote short-route tourist destinations and attractions nationwide. Tourism has been the economic sector hardest hit by the COVID-19 pandemic and this year it is already showing signs of recovery, said Minister Sánchez.
In addition, he explained that so far in 2022, more than 870,000 foreign tourists have entered the country and until December this figure would exceed 1.5 million visitors.
“This is a challenge for us because it means joint work with entrepreneurs and businessmen, the organized social capital that the country has, but also from the Government,” he commented.
Likewise, he remarked that the objective of the sector is to reach a growth of 2.5% of the GDPwhich would generate an economic impact close to US$5,000 million.
